Tangier’s antennas look at the sea

Collages (photographic prints) 40 x 60 cm, Light Box 40 x 60 cm
This work takes its origin from a series of photographs shot during a short stay in Tangier, on the Strait of Gibraltar (the ancient Hercules’ columns) just thirty kilometers from Spain by sea. In the distance you can see the lights, but Tangier inhabitants know very well that they can only access it with a visa. Europe and its wealth glimmers in front of them and brings crowds of tourists for a day trip to the Kasbah. The Medina is narrow, surrounded by a huge amount of parabolic antennas, a wall of ears. They are the tool through which the Western world reaches it. On the other hand, I was extremely impressed by the amount of people who simply stop and look at the sea. They are static images of suspended time, of other tunings.
