That’s Contemporary! A call for VIDEO ARTS, the project I am taking part in, entirely dedicated to artists’ video and developed within Cremona Art Fair, moved to Lucca Art Fair, at the Real Collegio of Lucca.
The jury, composed of Bianca Basile and Camilla Remondina, in collaboration with the artistic director of the Combat Prize, has selected the works that most strongly express a personal interpretation of the contemporary and, at the same time, interpret the present as a multifocal lens, arguing and opening up the field of investigation of contemporary forms of expression.

Matteo Campulla, Monica Carrera, Leila Erdman-Tabukashvili, Luca Granato, Susana Ljuljanovic, Eleonora Roaro, Antti Tanttu, Vaste Programme, Sabrina Zanolini, Marzio Zorio.
THAT'S CONTEMPORARY - A CALL FOR VIDEO ARTS contextualizes the present as a multifocal lens through the critical views of ten artists selected, following the examination of two hundred candidate works.
Whether present with the body or with the voice, the human being emerges as a fully aesthetic individual, who therefore perceives and manifests his own sensations, in relation to his own difficult context. Some authors denounce the urgencies of our present - capitalism, war, phobia, climate change - from an almost scientific point of view; others instead focus on the individual's more introspective and intimate reactions to these issues.
The absence of abstraction underlines the urgency of the current issues mentioned above.
There are numerous techniques that contaminate the chosen works, including animation, cinematic narration, performance and artificial intelligence, confirming the role of synthesis of recent artistic experiences that video has assumed.
The exhibition will be open during the opening hours of the fair, from 19 to 21 april 2024, at the Real Collegio of Lucca.
